Each day this week Justin Taylor is posting a walk through of the gospels accounts of the Holy Week events (the days leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection). He says:
You can follow the posts here: http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justintaylor/category/holy-week/
The flashy bit however is this Google map plotting the events by their location.
Again he says:
Here is something you might find fruitful while contemplating the events leading up to our Savior’s death and resurrection: an attempt in Google Earth to show the locations of the major events (to the best of our knowledge) along with descriptions and biblical passages describing those events.
Click on the image below to go to the Google Map, then click on each letter to see a summary of the events for each day.
The KML file lets you interact with this map in Google Earth, allowing you to rotate the view and zoom in from various angles.
A harmony/chronology is an attempt to bring together all 4 gospels accounts on an event. As all four gospels bring their own perspective on events reading them together like this, while admittedly giving you lots of overlap, also fills out details and gives a full picture. I actually like the overlap. Kim and I are reading these at mealtimes and reading the same event several times, in slightly different wording, is a great way to let something sink in.
